Kenyan Sand Boas Page

Alberta Bred Geckos has acquired a pair of Kenyan Sand Boas (Eryx colubrinus loveridgei) on January 26,2006. I've had my first successful breeding season in 2007, Azriel had 9 live born babies. I'm looking forward to having another batch of these great snakes soon! I have also acquired Paradox Albinos, Nuclear, Anerythristic, Amelanistic and Snow Kenyans! Check the info sections for each morph to see what breeding season they will be producing offspring in.

Kenyan Sand Boa Information

Kenyan Sand Boas are for the most part incredibly good starter snakes. They are a hardy, smaller snake, rarely exceeding 24" in length with a few rare specimens growing to 36". Generally they are a very docile, handleable snake and can be cared for with ease. This specie of sand boas are mainly found in Tanzania, Kenya, much of Ethiopia, Sudan, northern Somalia, northern Chad, western Niger, Egypt and western Libya. They breed around June/July and can produce 6-20 young around October/November. Gestation period is said to be roughly 4 months, and Kenyans are live-bearers. Younger snakes are fed pinkie mice, sometimes feeding frozen/thawed may take a little while to get them on, but usually take live mice without problems. Well Azriel has finally had her litter, and the final #'s are in. She had 14 beautiful Kenyan babies and 1 still-born. Over all she has been very good to me!! I'm looking forward to seeing her chow down voraciously as usual! See the

-June 24, 2007-

Today I received my new group of Kenyans! I've very excited, as their colors are great and I cannot wait for them to grow up now! Here is what I received:

1.1 Nuclear

1.1 Amelanistic 100% HET for Anerythristic

1.1 Anerythristic 100% HET for Amelanistic

1.1 Snow

These new additions will be excellent, as the Anerythristic and Amelanistic will have a largely varied litter, producing Double HET Normals, Anerythristic, Amelanistic and even Snows! It will be interesting to see what the Snows produce as wel! (hopefully all Snows tho!) These are all very young, so I will not be breeding them until the 2011 breeding season more than likely.

-October 2007-

Azriel is now 22" & 250 grams, Artimis is 22" & 125 grams. I'm looking forward to the next breeding season to see how many babies Azriel has 2008 breeding season!

-May 27, 2007-

Azriel has had 9 babies unexpectedly. Artimis had got into Azriel's side of the tank earlier and obviously mated successfully. Both adults are doing very well. Azriel is eating very well most likely to replace the nutrients from giving birth, but she was always eating more anyways. Artimis has got his appetite back, hopefully he will gain some weight too.

-August 2, 2006-

My Kenyans are growing, and are now both on Fuzzies, both F/T and live. Both have just shed so I will be adding some new pictures as well as some weights and lengths soon.

-September 18, 2006-

Azriel is growing quite well, easily eats 6-8 F/T Fuzzies in a sitting. The Artimis is still smaller but his appetite has returned nicely and eats 3-4 F/T Fuzzies in a sitting. Both are excellent and are very friendly. Female is weighing in at 209 grams and male is weighing in at 116 grams.

-June 1, 2006-

Well I posted some new pictures of my gravid female normal Kenyan. She is driving me nuts. She is rediculously huge (hopefully loaded with closer to 20 babies) but still has not had her litter of babies as of yet. She has been very active today, so I am really hoping she is going to have them soon.

The new additions have arrived! I'm very pleased to add another pair of Nuclear Kenyans to my breeders. This new pair will not be bred until the 2011 breeding season.

-December 9, 2007-

I am happy to announce that I have acquired a male and female Nuke Kenyan Sand Boas! I got in on an indirect order from PCPC (Port Credit Pet Center) so these should be Roy Stockwell breeding stock. Either way I am very excited and cannot wait to see how they look once fully grown. They are both very young, so I get to raise them myself as well!

My new Paradox Albino Kenyans arrived safe and sound. Both are 9" long and 10 grams. Both were born on September 6, 2007. I am looking forward to breeding out this neat morph in the future, but for not I am going to enjoy just raising them up!
