Rough Scale Sand Boa Page

Alberta Bred Geckos is proud to say that I have acquired a male and female Rough-scaled Sand Boa (Eryx conicus). I am looking forward to working with this very beautiful sand boa. They have a great pattern and color to their entire body. I am looking at breeding them in 2010, possibly 2011. Until then I am going to enjoy watching my Rough-scales grow!

Personal Notes and Information

-March 11, 2008-

After dealing with these Sand boas for a while I have noticed that they do not burrow as quickly as my Kenyans. They tend to wander around their enclosures for a short while above ground and then burrow. Only time I have had them burrow immediately is after a longer handling period or after feedings. I truly do enjoy them, as they have a great pattern and are a bit different from the rest of my collection.

I find these guys like to move a little bit more. They are a fair bit more active than my Kenyans, but it is kind of like a Corn snake. After a bit they calm down. I think they are just not used to being handled alot, so I am not worried about it. I love their looks!

I just received my Rough Scales, man are they ever beautiful! I cannot wait until they are fully grown and ready to breed! I love their pattern, and they have a slightly different look to their heads than my Kenyans that I am used to. Both were born in February/2007.
