Saharan Sand Boa Page |
|
Alberta Bred Geckos is proud to announce that I have acquired a male West African "Saharan" Sand Boa (Eryx muelleri). These very unique sand boas are very different textured, almost rubbery feeling with a somewhat loose feeling skin. To add to their neatness, they have a unique "Claw" on the tip of their tail. Their heads as well look almost out of place to their body, being very shovel-like and a brownish color contrasting their orange and black body. I am really hoping to get a female soon! |

Personal Notes and Information |

-March 11, 2008- I have found my Saharan male to be so very docile! He is I dare to say more laid back than my Kenyans. I however do suspect that he may be partially blind, so this may be the reason for his calm behaviour. Even his feeding response is very slow and calm. He eats the F/T Fuzzies I offer him very calmly. He is grown great and never misses a meal. I have also found that his texture of his skin is very different from the rest of my Sand Boas. He has a rubbery feeling to his skin, not a smooth texture. His skin also feels much looser, it is a very neat feeling that these snakes have to them. -December 15, 2007- I have found this guy to be a super good snake. He does not make any erratic jerky movements or make any sort of striking motions. His texture is so neat, feels like rubbery loose skin, very neat. He has become a great feeder as well, eating 6 F/T Fuzzies or more each feeding, sometimes even finishes the extra 1 or 2 Pinkies that the others did not want. I have found he actually likes to use the hook on the tip of the tail. He tends to wrap his tail and grip on to two fingers with the hook, then proceeds to stretch out a bit and check things out. I really hope I can find a female, as this guy is absolutely great and I would love to see little Saharans!! I do not even have to worry about picking him out of the feeding bin at all, he is just great! So docile! |

-October 30, 2007- I just received my Saharan male Sand Boa, that is born approximately Oct/2006. He is very handleable and quite tame! I'm looking forward to breeding these unique Sand boas, but have yet to find a female for sale. From the sounds of it, everyone mostly has males. |
