Tiger Salamanders

I have made a webpage dedicated to my Tiger Salamanders.

Over the last little while I have acquired several sub-species of Tiger Salamanders, all were rescued amphibians from locals in the city the did not know how to care for them and found them injured or in flooded basements. I've taken them in and am providing the best care I can for them.

Have a Tiger Salamander that needs a good home?

If you have a Salamander that you no longer wish to keep, and are looking to give it to a good home, I would be happy to accept any.

Please email me at: info @ AlbertaBredGeckos . com

OR submit a Contact Form.

Tiger Salamanders

If you would like to adopt a Salamander, please feel free to contact me and see if I have any that I am putting up for adoption. Adoptions are accepted/declined at my discretion. The Salamanders health and care are my first and foremost concern.

My Tiger Salamanders

Please note: I have adopted out some of my Salamanders. Majority of these pictures are older, so I may have different Salamanders than I have listed below. If you are interested, please email me and I will let you know what I have available.

Here are my two Tigers, Laguna (larger of the two, a male I believe) and Lily (smaller of the two, a female I believe) both are Eastern Tiger Salamanders (Ambystoma Tigrinum) Laguna is just under 11" long (10.75") and Lily is the normal 9" long. I have had Laguna since at least Aug/2004 and I got Lily in Feb/2005.

I also just acquired these two Tiger Salamanders on Mar/31/2005. They are Grey Tiger Salamanders (Ambystoma Mavortium Diaboli)  The one on the left, Odin, is 9" and the one on the right, Orion, is 10". Both are nice and healthy.

This is Dragoon, my Blotched Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma Mavortium Melanostictum) that I got June/4/2005. His current size is 9" and 68 grams. Picture on the left is from shortly after I got him, at only 6" and was after I fed him. He has gained alot of length/weight and is doing excellent now.

Here is Osiris, my Grey Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma Mavortium Diaboli) and Luna, my Eastern Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma Tigrinum) that I got October/23/2005. Osiris is 10" & 91 grams and Luna is 9" & 56 grams when I got them. I Estimate Osiris is 3 years old, and Luna about a year old. Both are great additions to my Tiger Salamander collection.

This is (undecided), my Blotched Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma Mavortium Melanostictum). I received him on Dec 10, age is not known, but is definitely less than 1 year old, probably under 6 months old. Since I got him he has gain alot of weight and grown a good 1" to 2" already. Weight as of Jan/16/2007 is 22 grams and he is 6" long.

This is (undecided), (undecided) and (undecided), my new Tiger Salamanders. I received this trio on Jan/26/2007 from Devon. Thanks for the great trio!

(undecided) and (undecided) are most likely Blotched Tiger Salamanders (Ambystoma Mavortium Melanostictum), but (undecided) is going to be hard to classify. May be a hybrid of Blotched and Eastern Tiger Salamanders.

Updated lengths/weights as of Oct/23/2005:

Laguna is 10.75" & 79 grams, Lily is 10.25" & 104 grams, Odin is 9" & 83 grams,

Orion is 9.75" & 94 grams, and Dragoon is 9.5" & 72 grams,

Osiris is 10" & 91 grams, Luna is 9" & 56 grams.

Updated lengths/weights as of Sept/19/2005:

Laguna is 10.75" & 80 grams, Lily is 10" & 101 grams, Odin is 10" & 90 grams,

Orion is 9.5" & 91 grams, and Dragoon is 9" & 68 grams.

My Tiger Salamanders Enclosure

I have just a simple setup for my Tigers right now. A 27 gallon long for a single Tiger. I kept this one and adopted out the rest, but I am looking at selling the enclosure with the Tiger Salamander included. A few pictures as well of the Tiger. The glass is a bit hard to take pictures through as it needs to be cleaned from misting all the time.

I sold this setup in 2007. (I did keep the misting system)

This is my 48"x24"x15" Terrarium for my Tiger Salamanders.  I have a lot of work to be done to the terrarium still, but it's looking good so far. This tank was built by Greg West at Cornel's World based in Calgary, AB. Very nice quality.

Here are some recent pictures of the Tiger's terrarium. I have modified the lid, replacing the larger mesh with both fine Aluminum mesh and Acrylic plastic sheets. Provides great ventilation, and at the same high visibility of the inside of the terrarium,

I have installed my new misting system for my Tiger Salamanders. I've setup the tank with 6 misting nozzles, and the mister runs on a timer. I got the misting system from Ecologic Technologies from the US. I bought the Rainmaker 1 misting system with the upgraded pump. I recommend it if you plan on running multiple terrariums that require misting.

   (More Pictures to come soon)
